About

Join us for a beach clean up!

Marine debris is an increasing issue, with an estimated 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic in the ocean as of 2019 (National Geographic). This debris can harm coastal and marine wildlife, whether by obstructing movement or breathing of animals that get tangled in it, building up in the stomachs of animals who mistake it for food, or blocking the light sea plants, algae, and microbes need to photosynthesize. Some of this debris washes ashore, where it can be collected and properly disposed of. Meet with the Harrison Lewis Centre to help clean up marine debris (and beach litter) at Stuart’s Point Beach in Port Joli, and help clean our oceans!
