COVID-19 Response Plan

The Harrison Lewis Centre takes COVID-19 and the safety of our staff and guests seriously. All HLC programs and events will be run in accordance with provincial health and safety guidelines, and are subject to cancellation due to restrictions. Wearing a mask indoors and maintaining social distancing of 2m or 6ft between staff and groups of guests is mandatory.

Facilities 

  • While the Harrison Lewis Centre boasts a lot in terms of nature and open spaces, its living facilities are basic, similar to those of a summer camp. Navigating sharing the facilities with paying guests during the COVID-19 pandemic requires boundaries explained below.

  • The showers at the HLC are comprised of an outdoor unit containing two showering stalls. These will be shared by paying guests as well as staff

Workshop Guests

  • Provide COVID-19 screening and contact forms electronically a few days before the event and keep the information for 30 days for contact-tracing .

  • Greet and orientate the workshop leader only, preferably outdoors.

  • Encourage workshop leader to contact staff via text or phone call if they need assistance.

  • Provide written instructions for the Cookhouse such as location of coffee/tea, Wi-Fi password, etc. so that staff do not have to be indoors with guests.

  • Guest and Workshop attendees are to set-up and clean up after themselves.

  • Open windows to increase ventilation of the cookhouse, weather permitting.

  • At the end of a workshop, drop-off feedback forms in the mudroom with a return box.

  • If the workshop is cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, deposits and fees paid will be returned in full.

Vacation Rental Guests

  • COVID-19 screening and contact forms will be provided electronically a few days before the reservation, and information kept for 30 days for contact-tracing.

  • Guests will be greeted outside and directed to accommodations and activities.

  • Written instructions will be available in the Cookhouse for coffee/tea, Wi-Fi password, etc.

  • Family-bubbles are encouraged to rent the entire facilities together so that a single bubble may use the cookhouse at once. In the event that cabins are rented out on an individual basis, guests must physically distance and wear a mask indoors at all times, except when eating/drinking.

  • If your booking is cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, your deposit and paid fees will be returned in full.

Daily Event Guests

  • The cookhouse and cabins are off-limits for daily event guests.

  • The outhouse is available for use by these guests and will be properly sanitized before and after the event.

  • Be mindful of physical distancing and wear a face mask and/or face shield when facilitating a walk/workshop.

  • Physical distancing can and must be maintained between all the participants.

  • Provide free hand sanitizer throughout the event

  • For events taking place in provincial parks:

    • Attendees must register in advance.

    • COVID-19 screening forms are required in advance from all attendees.

Cleaning/Sanitation Procedures

  • The facilities will be cleaned and sanitized by staff between groups. Cleaning supplies will be available to guest to clean the facilities as they need.

Cleaning Solutions and Supplies

  • Cleaning solutions (commercial or, if unavailable, 9:1 bleach solution) and supplies will be available in the Cookhouse for guest use.

  • Items that cannot withstand liquid disinfectants such as tablets, smartboards and cellphones may be disinfected with 70% alcohol wipes ensuring the solution contacts the surface for one minute to disinfect; and use paper towels or single-use rags.
